well depends on what he likes, oem/jdm a similar to the RSX A-spec would be the JDM DC5 Integra Type R front lip, not the most noticble on lips should cost around $ 250-300. LOL, the RSX only has 190hp (at the wheels) and most of the torque is on the top of the tach, don’t worry about it!I put my sister into a RSX-S with some modifications and she is fine and loves it!She’s actually doing a little SCCA parking lot racing now!The RSX is a fine car for a first car, it will be near impossible for it to "get away from you" like a high horse power rear wheel drive sports car could.Enjoy.

The RSX is really not that fast.As others have said, you need to really give it some revs to get to most of the power anyway.So it is the kind of car that should be reliable, well put together, and unless you drive like a moron, should be completely safe.I think you’ll be fine.

I have eibach sports springs with 18" HPR5 rims. My shocks are stock. The ride in my car is terrible. I feel every bump and rock on the road. If i were to change my tires back to stock keeping the lowering springs would it reduce the ride discomfort? Or do i need to change the shocks? If so whats a reasonable brand?

It is the 18” tires making for the terrible ride. Get taller tires or go back stock.

"Always Learning" is right. Changing the tires back to stock would provide some improvement, but you should have bought softer springs to begin with.

you should of have just changed the shocks an springs at the same time. you can try a smaller size but 18′s suck for ride quality

what you will need is softer springs. So go back to stock.

how do you tell the differences between a rsx to a rsx type s…without the s, the spoiler and the rims..any other way of knowing..

The RSX will have either a 5 speed manual or an automatic transmission.The RSX-S will have a 6 speed manual transmission.

Maybe the serial numbers end or start in diffent letters or numbers, or check the engine specs.

the VIN tells all. the type s is 6 speed manual transmission and the base models are 5 speed manual transmission or automatics. i think there is also some interior differences as well put not 100% sure on what they are

The Type -S has rear brake rotors standard equip. this is an optional for some models.
The under hood badge that tells you the engine Specs will have the #s for Type-s sports. The Type-S has a larger rear stabilizer bar if you look under the back of the car you can compare the bar with a regular Civic in the same year.
Type -S have LSD differentials.

The RSX Type-S has a specialty engine in it that produces 10-20 more horsepower than the base model.

the body kit is different. there is also mud flaps on the 05-06 models for the type S (it comes stock on it) also the exhaust. the exhaust has a tip on it for the type s the tip is like 2" (the 05-06 models) The only real way if they change everything is how many speeds is it? 5 speed base, 6 speed type S. Also where is the red line? the base is 6 1/2 type S is 8. Also the base does not have a 6 CD changer. Also the car colors Premium White Pearl (Type-S only) and Blaze Orange Metallic (Type-S only)
